The City of Helsinki is holding an event to welcome its newest international residents who have recently arrived from abroad.

The Helsinki Welcome Day will be at Helsinki City Hall on Friday 07 June from 15.00–18.00. Helsinki City Hall is in central Helsinki, located at Pohjoisesplanadi 11–13.

You can visit the event at any time throughout its duration, or you can stay for the whole event. Traditional Finnish “pulla” (pastries) and coffee will also be served.

Helsinki Welcome Day is free to attend, but sign-ups are required. The number of participants is limited, so sign up now!

Programme

At Helsinki Welcome Day, new international residents will be welcomed by the Mayor of Helsinki Juhana Vartiainen. Participants will enjoy a diverse programme about living a good life in Helsinki and discover more about leisure activities in the capital.

The event will be hosted by Shabana Ahmadzai from MakeSomeNoise speaker forum and journalist and writer Katja Pantzar. The keynote speaker is author Joel Willans, the content creator behind Very Finnish Problems.

Helsinki Welcome Day will also feature a variety of activities, such as:

  • Welcome fair stands
  • Live DJ, music and dance
  • Wheel of fortune
  • Arts and crafts workshops
  • Information about hobbies and leisure activities
  • Introduction to city services
