Cancellation of the Newcomer Information Session on 9 January 2025

We regret to inform you that the Newcomer Information Session scheduled for 9 January 2025 has been cancelled due to illness. We sincerely apologise for the short notice and any inconvenience this may cause.

At this time, we are unsure whether this session will be rescheduled for a later date. You can find details of upcoming sessions on our events page. Please note that our information sessions cover a variety of themes, including regular sessions about moving, living, and settling in, as well as dedicated sessions on working life.

Are you moving or considering moving to the Helsinki capital region?

International House Helsinki’s (IHH) Newcomer Information Sessions are here to provide you with a wide range of information, and support you in making the Helsinki capital region your new home.

Our Newcomer Information Session will cover the steps you need to take before and after you arrive in Finland. We will also provide you with information about topics like housing, daycare and education options in Helsinki, and the support available for partners and spouses. Please note, that we host separate information sessions about things related to working life, such as how to find a job or establish a company.

The session will take place on 9 January at 10.00–12.00 EET.

Our Newcomer information sessions are designed for international newcomers who are moving or considering moving to the Helsinki capital region for work or family.

Please sign up at least 24 hours before the starting time.

Once you have filled in and submitted the registration form, you will receive an email 1–2 days before the event with the link for joining the online session (Microsoft Teams).

The materials used at the event will be distributed to all registrants, so signing up is useful. You can also find the link for joining the session on this page little before it starts.

The Newcomer Information Session on 9 January features presentations from:

Attendees are encouraged to attend the entire session or whichever sections appeals to their needs.

Our session will provide you with information on, for example, following topics:

  • How to enjoy life in the capital
  • Work-based immigration
  • How to prepare for relocation
  • Handling public authority-related matters
  • Housing, public transport and the local health care system
  • Support available for accompanying spouses
  • The Finnish education system, daycare and schooling options

The sessions are held in English and take place online. The sessions are organized regularly, but the content varies. Please feel free to participate in one or more, or only the parts that suit your needs.
