Employment Coaching
International House Helsinki (IHH) provides reliable information and guidance for international professionals entering the job market in the Helsinki region. We currently offer the following early-stage support services for international jobseekers.
Step 1: Newcomer Information Sessions about Working Life
Start with one of our Newcomer Information Sessions about Working Life – whether you are just considering moving, in the process of relocating, or an international newcomer settling in the Helsinki capital region.
Our free online sessions are held regularly. Approximately once in every 4–6 weeks we focus on work-life information for jobseekers, employees, and entrepreneurs. These free online sessions are held in English and are designed to cover the most frequently asked questions about Finnish labour market and job seeking in the Helsinki region. Read more and sign up here.
Step 2: International Jobseeker’s Guide and other materials
After participating in our Newcomer Information Session, you will receive useful materials by email to kick-start your job search and career within the Helsinki region.
We also recommend utilising our International Jobseeker’s Guide to learn more about working in Finland and getting tips for navigating the local job market.
Step 3: Employment Coaching
After you have participated in a Newcomer Information Session about Working Life, you can make an appointment for our Employment Coaching service.
You can book a one-time 45-minute appointment either online (in Teams) or in person (in Kamppi, Helsinki). The service is provided in English or Finnish.
Our Employment Coaching service is tailored to each customer’s needs in general.
We can cover for example the following topics:
- Methods, tips and channels for job seeking in the Helsinki capital region
- CV’s and cover letters in the local job market
- Preparing for job interviews
- Further education and training options
Our Employment Coaching service is generally designed for:
- Those interested in moving to the Helsinki capital region for work or due to family ties
- Newcomers in the Helsinki capital region
- International students or recent graduates
You do not need to be registered as a jobseeker or live in Finland to use IHH’s Employment Coaching service. It is not possible to register as a jobseeker with our Employment Coaching service. To do that, please check the public employment services.
When booking an appointment, please note the following
- Participation in one of our Newcomer Information Sessions about Working Life is required before booking an appointment for Employment Coaching.
- After booking an appointment, you must fill a background information form no later than 24 hours before the appointment time, otherwise the coaching will be cancelled.
- Due to high demand, sometimes there may not be any appointments available. In that case, please check the booking system again later, as we open new appointment times regularly.
Please also note that IHH does not operate as an employment agency, so we do not offer jobs or handle job placements in this service. We are, however, happy to support you in your job search in the Helsinki region.
