Updated 11.5.2026

International House Helsinki (IHH) will move its service centre to a new location in Helsinki. Currently, the IHH service centre is located in Sörnäinen. In June 2026, the service centre will move to Pasila, where it will share its location with the new Suomi-piste service point.

The Suomi-piste (or “Finland-point” in Finnish) service point brings together public administration services under one roof. The service point offers a range of public authority services in the same location, and will soon also host IHH’s services for newcomers relocating to Finland.

Suomi-piste provides in-person support for customers whose matters require a visit to an authority. IHH will share premises with Suomi-piste, as several government authorities will also move their services in Helsinki to the new service point. The new address of the service point is Ratapihantie 7.

At IHH’s current service centre, multiple public authorities provide services related to the relocation process for internationals moving to Finland (read more about the authority services). Visitors can also receive general information and guidance from Helsinki-info at the service centre (read more about the general information and guidance services).

Services at the current IHH service centre in Sörnäinen will be available until 29 May 2026 at 12.00. The new service centre will open on 1 June 2026 at 8.00, and most services will be available from 9.00 onwards.

Services at the new service point

At the new IHH and Suomi-piste service point, the key official formalities related to the initial stage of moving to Finland can still be handled in one place:

  • Registration of the right of residence for EU citizens (Finnish Immigration Service, Migri)
  • Registration of personal data in the Finnish Population Information System, as well as applying for a Finnish personal identity code and municipality of residence (Digital and Population Data Services Agency, DVV)
  • Applying for a tax card (Finnish Tax Administration)

In addition, the following services are available for IHH customers at the service point:

  • Registering as a jobseeker (Employment Services)
  • General advice and guidance (Helsinki-info)
  • Applying for social security and related matters (Social Insurance Institution of Finland, Kela – handled remotely)

Good to know about the services

At the new IHH service point, Kela (Social Insurance Institution of Finland) will no longer have a physical customer service desk. However, IHH customers can use Kela’s remote service at the new service point. Customers can speak with a Kela specialist via video and audio connection using dedicated customer computers.

The services provided by Migri, Employment Services and Kela are primarily intended for customers in the initial stage of moving to Finland. For other matters, service availability should be checked directly with the relevant authority. As at the current IHH service centre, Migri processes registrations of the right of residence for EU citizens at the new service point but does not process residence permit applications.

The services of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) and the Finnish Tax Administration (Vero) will fully move to the new Suomi-piste service point. This means that customers can also handle matters other than those related to the initial stage of moving to Finland with these authorities at the same service point.

For identity cards for newcomers, customers should continue to visit the Helsinki Police Department. The police service point is located in Pasila (Pasilanraitio 11), but not in the same premises as the IHH and Suomi-piste service point.
