Newcomer Information Sessions explain what you need to do before and after moving to Finland and help you navigate life in the Helsinki capital region.

All sessions are free, online, and in English. Newcomer Information Sessions are organised by International House Helsinki (IHH).

What are Newcomer Information Sessions?

Newcomer Information Sessions are helpful online webinars for people moving to, or new in, the Helsinki region.

Join a session to get practical guidance and information that will:

  • Explain what you need to do before and after your move
  • Explore everyday life and working life in Finland
  • Answer your questions about the featured topics

Sessions about moving and settling in

Newcomer Information Sessions about Moving and Settling in explain key steps for newcomers moving to and settling in Finland. They also share information about life in the Helsinki capital region.

Topics include moving to Finland, housing, education, healthcare, daily life, and support for newcomers and their families.

Sessions about working life

Newcomer Information Sessions about Working Life provide practical guidance for jobseekers, employees, and entrepreneurs moving to the Helsinki capital region.

Topics include job searching, working life, employee rights, social security, career support for partners, and how to start a business.

How to join

Newcomer Information Sessions are held online and take place regularly. They are in English and are free to join.

To join a session, sign up in advance from its event page. You will receive the link to join by email before the session.

You can attend for a whole session, or only for the topics that are relevant to you.

Who can join?

Newcomer Information Sessions are most relevant for people moving to Finland for work, business, or family reasons. However, anyone interested in the topics is welcome to attend!

All sessions are free, online, and in English. You can join a session from anywhere in the world.

During our Newcomer Information Sessions, we cover topics like:

Sessions are organised regularly, but their content varies.

We offer two types of sessions:

  • Sessions about moving and settling in focus on general topics to support international newcomers and their families with relocation
  • Sessions about working life provide work-life information for jobseekers, employees, and entrepreneurs

You are welcome to attend one or many sessions, or only join for the sections that appeal to your needs.
